The Seventh-day Adventist church has
27 fundamental beliefs.
In brief, we believe:
*In a personal God. (Heb. 1:1-3)
*In Jesus Christ, as the Divine Son of God and our
Savior. (John 1:1-3, 14; 3:16)
*In the continual ministry of Christ in the heavenly
sanctuary as our High Priest. (Heb. 4:14-16; 7:25)
*In the Holy Spirit, the Divine Comforter. (John
14:16; 15:26)
*In regeneration and the new birth, through the
acceptance of the gospel. (John 3:1-7; 2 Cor.
5:17)
*That the entire Bible is the word of God, inspired by
the Holy Spirit. 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21)
*That the second coming of Christ is very near and that
it will be literal, personal, and visible to all.
(John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; Matt. 24:30-33)
*That man by nature is mortal. (Job 4:17; I Tim.
6:15, 16)
*That immortality and eternal life are the gift of God
and received only through Christ at the moment of His
coming. (Rom. 6:23; I Cor. 15:51-54)
*That the dead are in an unconscious state. (Job
14:10-12, 21; Eccl. 9:5, 6, 10; John 11:11-14)
*That there will be a resurrection of the dead. (I
Thess. 4:16, 17; John 5:28, 29)
*That the wicked will not burn eternally but will be
totally destroyed. (Mal. 4:1-3)
*That righteousness comes by faith in Christ.
(Rom. 4:3-5)
*That the ten commandments are the standard of
righteousness, by which all will be judged, and all
Christians are commanded to obey. (James 2:10-12;
Ex. 20:3-17; John 14:15)
*That the original Bible seventh-day Sabbath has never
been changed by divine authority and therefore
Christians are under obligation to keep it holy.
(Gen. 2:2-3; Ex. 20:8-11; Luke 23:54-56)
*In the support of the gospel through tithes and
offerings. Lev. 27:30, 32; Mal. 3:8-11)
*In baptism by immersion only. (Mark 1:9, 10; Rom.
6:3-5)
*In the ordinances of humility (foot washing) and the
Lord's Supper. (John 13:1-17; I Cor. 11:23-26)
*In the gifts of the Spirit, including the spirit of
prophecy. (Eph. 4:8, 11)
*In discarding unhealthful practices such as the use of
intoxicants, drugs, tobacco, and unclean meats. I
Cor. 3:16, 17; Deut. 14:3-21)
*That the followers of Jesus Christ should manifest true
Christian modesty in dress and deportment and should
shun all questionable worldly amusements. (I Tim.
2:9, 10; James 1:27; Phil. 4:8) |
